Leather has a firm history as a winter wardrobe staple, and this year it looks set to remain faithful to the Spring/Summer runway and beyond.
SS’13 focused upon the eternally seductive feminine silhouette, whether through revealing cutout leather gowns, as shown by Alexander Wang or Michael Kors, or balancing provocative leather with elegant tapered lace.
From Louis Vuitton to Chanel, the key concept for leather this season is to have fun with it. Whilst Balmain and Lanvin stuck to a classic black palette for their shows, many, such as Hermes and Oscar de la Renta, shunned this for brighter block colours.
So this Valentine’s Day, if you’re going to love anything, love leather.
