This Spring/Summer, alongside the bolder trends of white and brights, pastels once again make a return to the runways and to our wardrobes. However there is nothing sweet and innocent about this trend this year. Fondant pink, baby-blue and lilac shades have been given a modern provocative twist, whether combined with peekaboo detailing or bold 60s patterns. Pastels have moved away from their usual dulcet palette this season, becoming brighter and verging on the acidic at times, with lemon in particular being the most noticeable shade, as seen in Erdem, Calvin Klein and Mulberry S/S'13.
With shorter hemlines, sheer fabrics and studded details, this S/S'13 pastels are sexy, and not so sweet.
